The Blount County Education Foundation (BCEF) welcomes two board members, Pam Hathcock with Alcoa, Inc. and Rob Morris with Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance.
Hathcock and Morris join a 13-member BCEF board, which includes Michael Barrett of Ruby Tuesday, Shanna Hearon with Molecular Pathology Laboratory Network, Inc., David Jordan of Clayton Homes, Lanae Keith with Denso Manufacturing, Andrea Knight from Newell Rubbermaid, Kristin Pryor with Sustainable Future, LLC., Tim Rhoades at HomeFirst Agency, Inc. Susan Stout at Blount Today, Debbie Sudhoff at Areawide Development Corporation, Carl Van Hoozier, Jr. with Vulcan Materials and Linda Whitehead at First National Bank.
Since 1990, the BCEF has delivered needed educational tools to teachers and students in all Blount County Schools. While a separate entity from the school system, the BCEF works closely with teachers, principals and central administration to understand and address the most pressing, unmet needs.
Acting as a bridge between school needs and community resources, the BCEF seeks both financial support and donated services from generous individuals and corporations. Donations to the BCEF support several programs in the Blount County School System, including the mini-grant program that places educational tools into classrooms that otherwise would not be available.
With the support of monetary contributions and volunteers, the BCEF also provides school supplies to teachers to assist students in need. Every year, during the tax-free weekend in August, the BCEF hosts the “Stuff the Bus” school supply drive at the Alcoa and Maryville Walmart locations to purchase and accept donated school supplies.
