SpongeBob Square Pants traveled from under the sea to Maryville, and children and their parents gathered at National Fitness Center welcomed the guest of honor with shouts of glee.
The star of the animated series made a special appearance at the West Broadway fitness center on April 2. National Fitness Center marketing director Candice McQueen was pleased with the turnout.
“We had more than 100 people who came out to greet SpongeBob because we had that many adults who signed up, so that didn’t include the children,” she said.
“We thought Maryville was the perfect place to have SpongeBob,” said McQueen, and she thanked Charter Media for bringing him to town. “We had games set up, along with a bounce house and face painting. The children and even some of their parents had their pictures made with SpongeBob.”
McQueen said it was a community day for folks to come have fun at National Fitness Center. “We hope to be able to have many community events like this here at our Maryville location.”
