Members of the Chilhowee Club took a fun approach to raising money for cancer research - they played games.
Each year members of the Chilhowee Club gather at the Chilhowee Club on Cates Street in Maryville to raise money for Relay for Life.
Club president Dianne Cserbak said it was a pleasant afternoon for the members and prospective members. “Game Day was wonderful, absolutely wonderful. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon. We had an attendance of 40 to 50 women playing different kinds of games, and we raised close to $500,” she said. “It was a fun afternoon of playing games and raising money for Relay for Life.”
Cserbak said that each and every time the club holds Game Day, the club members meet new people. “Word gets out that we do this, and folks come to the Chilhowee Club to participate. I’m always advocating the club for memberships and a lot of women came through the club house and saw all the wonderful portraits of the Chilhowee Club presidents dating back to 1891,” she said. “We raised money and had fun.”
