When: Saturday
Kickoff: 1:00 p.m.
Records: Maryville (1-2), Methodist (1-2)
Previous meeting: The Scots had to use four overtimes to defeat the Monarchs last season. Using a 12-yard touchdown run by Darrell Tate, combined with Demetrius Christian stepping in front of a Monarch pass, the Scots found the win 36-30.
Last week: Two weeks ago, the Scots defeated LaGrange, 20-17, in three overtimes. Andrew Noboa’s 33-yard field goal gave the Scots their first win on the season. Methodist fell hard to Emory & Henry. The Wasps jumped out to a 35-6 lead at the half and never looked back in defeating the Monarchs, 49-6. Quarterback Travis Murphy found the end zone for the Monarchs only score from 1 yard out.
Keep an eye on: Scots freshman quarterback Dustin Williams continues to improve with every game. Look for him to have a big game with receiver Wesley Idlette returning to full strength this week after battling an ankle sprain. Last season, Idlette had three receptions for 75 yards and three touchdowns against the Monarchs. Tate carried 12 times for 73 yards, along with the game-winning touchdown. Last season, the Scots recorded 14 tackles for loss and five sacks, adding up to 61 lost yards for Methodist. Methodist quarterback Travis Murphy is 36-of-61 for 368 yards and four touchdowns through the air this season.
