Democrat commissioners honored at hotdog reception

Members of the Blount County Democrats Party honored the three outgoing members of the Blount County commission during a hotdog reception Sept. 25, at the Blount County Public Library.

Former commissioners David Ballard, Dr. Bob Proffitt and Wendy Pitts Reeves were honored at the event.

Proffitt said they appreciated the good wishes, and the folks who honored them.

“I think all of us always appreciate recognition, and in our county certainly the Democratic Party is minority party, but it means a great deal. It was a well-done reception, and it was good to hear some of the thoughts of the folks who attended.”

Reeves said support for her crossed party lines. “It has been very humbling the outpouring of respect and kind words I’ve received, from not only Democrats, but Republicans and from people who don’t care about political affiliation,” she said. “I’m proud of the work I’ve done, but I’m especially proud of the county in which I live.”
