Blount County native Dr. Shane Asbury joined Maryville Orthopaedic Clinic in August, and a reception was held in his honor on September 2.
Mary Dance, director of MOC, said, “He is a hometown boy. We’re just really excited for him to join the practice,”
Dr. Asbury graduated from Maryville High School and Maryville College. He then completed his medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis.
Dr. Asbury will specialize in sports medicine, hip and knee arthroplasty, foot and ankle treatment and fracture care.
Dance said over 100 people attended the reception to welcome their new doctor, including referring physicians and staff from Blount Memorial Hospital, and various people from the community.
Guests also toured MOC’s newly-expanded facility that was completed in May.
Dr. Asbury joins six other physicians at MOC, a practice that has been in Blount County for almost four decades.
Dance said adding Dr. Asbury to the practice is a way to provide more services to the community.
The most recent new service is an Urgent Care After-Hours clinic that is open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays.
Maryville Orthopaedic Clinic is located at 827 East Lamar Alexander Pkwy; in front of Blount Memorial Hospital. The after-hours clinic can be reached at 865-231-9440. For all other MOC inquiries, call 865-984-0900.
