Fashion-forward babies and toddlers have a new place to shop in downtown Maryville. Lollipops Children’s Boutique is a store that is as full of charm as its owner, Xamena Bangash.

Bangash opened Lollipops Children’s Boutique in August and word of the children’s clothing and accessories is spreading. Folks are excited that Maryville has a trendy children’s store, the owner said.

Bangash, who worked at Razberries Clothing Boutique for two years, said opening her own store is something she always wanted to do.

“Everything fell into place,” Bangash said. She graduated from Maryville College a year ago and said the job market was dismal. “I just decided -- ‘Why don’t I just do this now?’ -- instead of applying for jobs that didn’t inspire me or appeal to me.” Although young, Bangash said that opening her own store was something she knew she could do.

In the research and planning phase, Bangash found the building, located at 131 East Broadway, that she thought would be perfect for Lollipops.

“I love this area and want to support it,” said Bangash, a Maryville native.

Bangash said her children’s boutique perfectly merges her two loves. When Bangash studied abroad in Japan, she developed a love of fashion, and she has always had a love of traveling. Now, with Lollipops Children’s Boutique, Bangash travels to market to find the trendiest, fashionable pieces for the store.

Some clothing lines that are featured at Lollipops are the sophisticated styles of Biscotti and Kate Mack for infants and children up to size 6x. The children’s clothing line, Mulberry Street, is known for the embroidered details. Mulberry Street also has a line of stylish jumpers that are reversible, a practical feature since the target age group has a tendency to spit up on their clothes.

Lollipops carries Mud Pie, a cute and reasonably-priced clothing line for size 0 to 18-months. Also, for this age group, shoppers can find sleep sets and onesies by Kissy Kissy. This line is made from Pima cotton which feels really soft next to baby’s skin.

For the toddler set, Lollipops has Country Kids which is a mix and match line of clothes. The solid print jumpers are accessorized with patterned leggings in every color.

For the boys, Lollipops carries Cotton Blu, a classic line of clothing. “These make good church outfits,” Bangash said of the sweater vests, polos and pants in timeless styles in sizes up to 6x.

In East Tennessee, a clothing store has to feature University of Tennessee apparel, and Lollipops is no different. For the stylish Tennessee fan under the age of 6, customers can find crib shoes that look like orange hightops, polo-styled orange onesies and bibs with the Big Orange T.

Bangash said that every little girl who comes to Lollipops gravitates toward the Belle Ame pettiskirts and falls in love with them. These whimsical, brightly colored full skirts are popular among the princess set.

For customers shopping for gift items, receiving blankets, memory books, hooded towels, bibs and accessories are some of the choices found at Lollipops.

Located at 131 East Broadway in downtown Maryville, Lollipops is also a proud participant in Maryville’s Last Friday Artwalk.
