Mary Leidig has recently been named director of marketing of Maryville College. She joined the College on June 14.
Leidig will oversee the College’s marketing, branding and public relations, growing external partners and visibility for College. Areas of oversight also include the website and working with social media strategies.
Leidig comes to Maryville College with a background in marketing, public relations, crisis communication management, traditional and social media management and print journalism.
Most recently, Leidig was the chief marketing officer for the 16-county Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council. Previously, she was the regional public relations manager for St. Mary’s Health System. Leidig launched new marketing publications and magazines for both organizations.
Work under her leadership has earned several awards of excellence and first-place awards for the Public Relations Society of America Volunteer Chapter, including “Best of Show” in 2008. Leidig has also earned awards from the East Tennessee Society for Professional Journalists and from the American Marketing Association, Knoxville. Leidig received her degree from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City.
“We are so excited to have someone with Mary’s energy and rich background in this position,” said Holly Sullivan, vice president for advancement and community relations at Maryville College. “Specifically, Mary’s non-profit experience will be very helpful in allowing us to maximize resources while getting the most return on investment.”
Leidig has been a member of Rotary International and serves on the board of Keep Knoxville Beautiful and Blount Mansion. She continues to enjoy freelance writing as well.
