It is always exciting when invited to join a new group.
For ten Blount County women, an invitation to join the Junior Service League was followed up with a new member tea and evening of training at the home of sustaining member Joyce Greene.
Junior Service League is an organization of 59 women who are committed to serving the community. Members are required to give community service hours and to help the organization with fundraising to support the JSL Toys for Blount County drive.
The women of Junior Service League raise thousands of dollars each year to fund Toys for Blount County, an annual toy drive that has collects Christmas gifts for Blount County’s children in need. The drive has been a part of the Blount County Christmas landscape since 1972. Currently, JSL is planning the upcoming fundraiser, the annual Santa Breakfast. This magical event will be held on Dec. 18 at the Clayton Center for the Arts and will serve over 400 parents and children. For information about donations and sponsorships for this event, visit Junior Service League at www.jslmaryville.org.
Blount Today introduces the new members of JSL today and shares some snapshots of the training session and new member tea at the Greene home.
