Applications for Christmas assistance from the Salvation Army are now being taken in Blount County. Residents will be able to apply for Angel Tree items and food baskets.
All applicants must have the following information with them in order to apply: Proof of all income, earned and unearned; Social Security Cards for all individuals (including children) in the household; proof of rent, mortgage or subsidized housing; proof of the amount of food stamps received; proof of age for children 12 years and under who live in the household, and grandparents must present custody papers.
Applications can not be processed without all of the above information. Individuals are asked not to apply for assistance if they have applied with another agency.
Individuals can submit applications from 9 a.m. to noon, Sept. 27 through Oct. 1 at the Salvation Army, 1413 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville. For information, call 865-525-9401.
