Kickoff: 7:30 p.m.
Records: Maryville (8-1, 6-0 District 4AAA), Lenoir City (4-5, 2-4)
Previous meeting: The Rebels rolled to a 24-0 halftime lead and pulled the starters, only to see the Panthers roar back in the second half and make it interesting in a 27-14 Maryville win in Lenoir City. Rebel quarterback Patton Robinette, on in a backup role, threw a second-half interception. In 2010, the 6-foot-5 junior hasn’t been intercepted once all season.
Last week: William Blount’s Governors turned the ball over four times inside their 30-yard line in the second quarter, and the Class 6A No. 1-ranked Rebels made them pay to the tune of a 52-6 shellacking. The Maryville ground game of junior Jacob West, freshman Shawn Prevo, senior Robby Pederson and Robinette amassed 312 yards rushing. Panther quarterback Jordan Hall was 13-of-25 passing for 117 yards and a touchdown in a 16-7 loss at Farragut. Hall’s 11-yard run in the fourth accounted for the Lenoir City score.
Keep an eye on: The Panthers knocked off William Blount, 10-7, on a field goal as time expired two weeks ago. After four second-quarter turnovers, all leading to Maryville touchdowns, the Governors were never in it in the loss to the Rebels. If Maryville gets to play a lot of people, sophomore linebacker Trace Fuller is one to watch. He had a team-best nine tackles last week. He’s getting there. Defensively, ends Jared Miller and Joseph Watson are delivering stellar seasons.
