Foothills Fall Festival 2010: Pleasant weather makes for fast-paced weekend for families

How did this past weekend go by so fast?

That’s the question Adventure Land Chair Patti Clevenger was asking herself when the 11th annual Foothills Festival wrapped up Sunday evening.

Clevenger said she couldn’t have asked for better weather or for a smoother weekend than what she got in Adventure Land.

“It was awesome. We had lots of crowds, everybody had fun, and the vendors had a great time. It went great. It really was better than we expected, and it went by quickly because everything went so well,” she said. “It seemed like all of a sudden it was Sunday at 6 p.m. Even during clean up we found we had all our stuff back in by 11:40 p.m. City crews were still tearing down tents and inflatables but even that went fast. Now we’re ready for next year, the 12th Foothills Fall Festival.”

The pleasant weather made for a better weekend as everyone was a good mood, Clevenger said. Because the weather was warm, there were more strollers along the paths in Adventure Land as parents brought out their younger children. “It was truly all ages this time,” she said.

The warm weather meant “Twiggy,” the water-skiing squirrel, stayed up on skies longer for the audience. “He skied better than he’s ever skied,” Clevenger said.

Clevenger thanked sponsor GreenBank, as well as city employees from the electric, water and public works departments for all they did to set up Adventure Land, keep it clean and safe and clean it up afterwards.

“It couldn’t happen without them and our volunteers. They are the ones who make it happen,” she said.
