The big white tents were up early on Wednesday, Sept. 29, signaling to the neighborhood that it was a day for a rush on the bank at AlcoaTenn Federal Credit Union. No money worries for this visit to the bank, but rather a dash for door prizes, grilled hotdogs and an afternoon of fun with friends.
AlcoaTenn drew a crowd to their Hall Street location for their annual Member Appreciation Day, an event that has become one the community looks forward to each year as the smell of grilled hot dogs and the festive atmosphere attracts customers and neighbors alike.
Staff at the credit union were pleased with the turnout. “We do think it was very successful, and we had a good crowd show up. It’s a yearly event people look forward to, and they take time to visit all afternoon,” said Paula Williams, assistant account manager.
AlcoaTenn members enjoyed a free lunch as staff grilled hotdogs and served up chips and cookies. The staff also saluted community emergency service workers.
“We’ve done a member appreciation day for at least 10 years just to show members we really do appreciate their loyalty to the credit union, and we hope we are offering the services they need at whatever time they need them, in addition to keeping up with changes in online banking and staying current with technology,” Williams said.
AlcoaTenn also invited radio station WIVK come out to do a radio remote with their local radio celebrity Gunner. “Mainly we just want to say thank you to our members and just have an afternoon of fun,” said Williams.
