On Oct. 13, a new alternative for health care opened for families in Blount County.
The Clinic at Wal-Mart operated by Blount Memorial Hospital opened in the Alcoa WalMart. The clinic is staffed with four people, including two board-certified family nurse practitioners, Rachel Best and Jennifer Spicer, and two staff members, Dacia Matos and Susan Snoderly.
Following a ribbon-cutting, the staff of The Clinic at Wal-Mart celebrated the clinic’s grand opening and gave tours of the facility. During the tours, Best and Spicer explained routine health services that are provided at The Clinic at Wal-Mart.
According to Blount Memorial Hospital, the new neighborhood clinic offers affordable, same-day care for non-emergency illnesses and injuries and routine health services. The walk-in clinic provides convenient access to basic health care services, seven days a week, with no appointment necessary. It is a good option for busy customers who need care, especially after working hours or on weekends, for common health ailments, hospital officials said.
