Chris LaRue, a Maryville resident and member of First Baptist Church Maryville, Maryville Rotary Club and Leadership Blount class of 2000-01 has joined the staff of Smith Funeral and Cremation Service as Family Service Advisor.
LaRue comes to Smith with a background in the financial services industry where he most recently served as vice president of a Richmond, Virginia securities broker-dealer. “We think Chris’ background in financial counseling, his professionalism and his ability to walk people through the planning process will make him a good fit for the position,” says Lynn Gibson, president. “I am excited about the opportunity to use what I have learned in my career to help people plan for what is arguably a family’s most impacting event, both emotionally and financially,” says LaRue. “Someone, at some point in time will have to plan and pay for your funeral. Not so many people know what services and products are actually available or the benefits of planning ahead of time.” LaRue thinks he brings a new approach to what has traditionally been a straight “sales” role. “The opportunity to counsel with people about what they want for themselves, their family and friends is not new to me. My main role is to simply provide the information they need to make educated decisions.”
