Registered nurse Kema Combes recently was named the director of nursing resources and clinical director of the 2-north and 2-east floors at Blount Memorial Hospital. Before assuming these roles, she was a staff registered nurse, patient care coordinator and administrative supervisor at Blount Memorial.
In her new role, Combes will manage clinical nursing and patient care delivery, nursing recruitment and retention and staff development. She supervises and works with the patient care coordinator to ensure compliance with policies and new processes, and she works with the staffing office to improve efficiency in productivity.
Combes graduated from Macon State College in Georgia, with an associate’s degree in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon for 13 years. She then worked at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL., where she was a patient care manager for the cardiac and bariatric surgical floors. In 2006, Combes began her Blount Memorial career. She is certified in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS) and trauma nursing core course (TNCC).
Blount Memorial registered nurse Sharon Johnston was previously the clinical director for the 2-north and 2-east floors, but now has assumed oversight of nursing informatics, which will play a key role in the implementation of electronic medical records at Blount Memorial. Johnston also remains the clinical director of the Blount Memorial Family Birthing Center.
