Blount County Republican women turned out in force and hosted a crowd of well-wishers at their annual picnic.
“It’s our annual summer picnic,” said Susan Mills, chair of the Blount County Republican Party. “Typically we’ve had it at the Greenbelt Pavilion on a Monday. This year Tom Hatcher, Blount County Circuit Court Clerk, had booked Franklin Pavilion on Sevierville Road, and he let us use it. That’s why we had it on Saturday.”
Mills said about 250 people dropped by throughout the afternoon for the picnic.
The picnic was at 6 p.m. on July 17 at Chester Franklin Pavilion. “It builds camaraderie amongst the party, and it is good for the cohesiveness in the party and it is always a fun social time where everyone chats and enjoys being in each other’s company,” he said. “With elections being held this year, we had a lot of people who wanted to speak,” said Mills. “This year being an election year, we have lot of people who wanted to speak.”
