A public meeting on the completion of the controversial Pellissippi Parkway is set for July 20, 5 to 7 p.m., at Heritage High School.
The purpose of the hearing is to provide the public an opportunity to comment on the findings of the Environmental Impact Study prior to the completion of the final document.
The meeting will give the public a chance to review the Draft Environmental Impact Study and make comments directly to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Opponents of the parkway say it is an unnecessary roadway that will mar the beauty of Blount County and is a waste of taxpayer’s money.
Supporters argue that the completion will ease the gridlock on main roads and reduce traffic accidents, support smoother tourism traffic to Townsend and help manage development with an urban growth boundary.
