Parker to head BB&T of TN retail banking operations

Scott Parker is the new head of retail banking for the more than 70 locations in BB&T’s Tennessee region, BB&T State President Missy Wallen has announced.

As senior vice president and regional retail banking manager, Parker is responsible for some 400 employees conducting retail and small business services for BB&T financial centers in East Tennessee and Nashville, western North Carolina, north Georgia and southern Virginia.

He will also have a supervisory role over six large branches and sales and service leaders throughout BB&T’s service area.

“Scott’s new role requires exceptional management, organizational and leadership skills,” said Wallen. “He possesses all three characteristics. He proved himself in his previous position, and I am confident he will do an outstanding job in his new role.”

“My job is to make sure our teams are providing excellent service while coming up with the right solutions to meet our clients’ financial needs,” said Parker. “Communication with our clients, talking to them about their needs in these economic times, is essential. Before taking his new position, parker was sales and service leader for 17 financial center locations in Knox, McMinn, Monroe and Jefferson counties.

With BB&T for 11 years, Parker, 35, is a 1997 Appalachian State University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. In 2000 he graduated from BB&T’s Leadership Development Program.

He subsequently spent a year as a BB&T Leadership Development Program advisor, working with college and university candidates found by BB&T to possess the appropriate mix of capabilities and personal characteristics to be successful in banking.
