The Maryville College baseball team looks to climb above .500 on the young season when it hosts arch-rival Sewanee on Thursday at Scotland Yard at 4 p.m. The Scots (4-4), the defending Great South Athletic Conference champions, are powered, in part, by a strong start from senior first baseman Jamey Davis. The former Heritage Mountaineer leads all Scots who’ve participated in all eight games with a .409 batting average. Davis is also best among Scots in hits (9), doubles (5), ranking second in both home runs (2) and runs batted in (5). Junior Myles Cordell enters Thursday’s clash with Maryville-bests in both RBI (10) and homers (3).
