After a couple of games, you knew what Alcoa was going to do. Everybody knew.
Didn’t make any difference.
Behind one of the great offensive lines in recent Blount County history, Alcoa just ran teams over, rolling to an unbeaten, 15-0 season and an unprecedented sixth consecutive state championship. The title was the Tornadoes’ record-tying 11th overall.
Linemen on such a team are worth their weight in gold, and, last week, one of them picked a college. Marcel Walden, a 6-foot-3, 265-pound tackle, signed a National Letter of Intent with Alabama State of the Southwestern Athletic Conference on national signing day.
