Amy Porter is Blount Memorial Hospital’s January employee of the month. Porter, a 10-year employee of the hospital, works as a pharmacist in the hospital’s pharmacy department.
Her supervisor says, “Amy is hospitable in many ways, especially in her contacts with patients. She is a skilled clinician, and is especially efficient in performing responsibilities while maintaining a high quality of services. She is an outstanding team player, who frequently helps other staff when workload is heavy, or simply a second opinion on a problem is needed. Also, Amy has implemented numerous improvements in home infusion and clinical pharmacy services over her years of service at Blount Memorial.”
Porter says that thing she likes most about her job is the diversity. “I get to dabble in several different areas of pharmacy, which always makes for an exciting workday. Our clinical services have grown over the past 10 years thanks to the initiative and vision of many of our other clinical pharmacists, physicians and our supportive pharmacy director, Jeanne Ezell. The constant influx of students offers me a wonderful teaching environment, as well.”
Outside of Blount Memorial, Porter enjoys boating, reading, watching her two children play sports, or a relaxing evening with family and friends. One thing she says people might not know about her is, “I’ve flown an airplane.”
