This Super Bowl Cheese Ball is a perfect addition to a Super Bowl party.
It doesn’t matter if you are hoping the Saints or the Colts will take home the honors from the Super Bowl on Sunday, Feb. 7. Prepare this football-shaped cheese ball, and you will receive rave reviews.
Many families have traditional fare that is a “must” for the big game. Cheese balls usually top the list, so try this one. This recipe is great if you are watching the game with friends because it serves approximately 30 people.
Super Bowl Cheese Ball
2 pkg. (8 oz. each) Philadelphia Brand cream cheese, softened to room temp.
1 pkg. (8 oz.) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 green onions finely chopped
1 small pkg. (3 oz.) bacon bits
1/3 cup chopped green or red bell pepper
1 small can crushed pineapple, drained (optional)
1/4 tsp. salt and pepper
1 cup chopped pecans
1 slice Swiss or mozzarella cheese cut into small strips for “lacing” or you could use the leftover green or red bell peppers.
In large bowl, blend cream cheese, cheddar cheese and Parmesan with electric mixer just until blended.
Add onions, bacon bits, peppers, pineapple, salt and pepper. Mix well by hand.
Cover bowl and refrigerate for several hours.
Form into football shape. Coat with pecans and add the laces.
Keep refrigerated until serving time. Serve with crackers or pretzel chips.
