Martha Lou McCampbell knows who her example is as she serves as president of the Blount County Association of Realtors. She is sitting right next to her: Clara Peals.
The new president of the Blount County Association of Realtors was sworn in with other officers and directors on Dec. 15 during the annual installation at the Blount County Public Library.
“I follow Clara Peals’ lead,” said McCampbell. “She is so humble. She was a charter member of BCAR, and we have made her a member emeritus,” McCampbell said. “She is constantly out there promoting our organization and our industry, and it is an honor to have her with us.”
Blount Title Agency owner Steve Greene swore in McCampbell and the other incoming officers and directors. “He’s been a long time support of BCAR via the Blount Title Agency,” she said. “He’s a great guy. I think all of the companies in BCAR were well represented.”
McCampbell said assuming the role of BCAR president is an honor. “I’m humbled to be president of an organization that started in 1954. I’m pleased realtors are a still a viable part of the community,” she said. “I’m looking forward to coordinating all the efforts of home inspectors, termite inspectors and banks to help people buy homes. Selling homes and buying homes, that is what we do.”
The new BCAR president said the existing housing market is changing softly. “You still have to have an awesome credit rating to buy a house. It seemed it was starting to loosen ever so slightly but I’m curious, with next round of foreclosures due to be processed, what that will do to the market. It is always a good time to buy real estate.”
Other officers sworn in included Shannon Tipton, secretary; Kevin Ross, treasurer; Mark Ivens, past president and interim president elect. Members of the board of directors sworn in included Harold Brown, Mack Coulter, Jerry Delozier, David Chambers, Clara Peals and Time Seay.
