A charity fashion show benefited a foundation committed to providing an important accessory to those dealing with hearing loss.
The Hearing and Speech Foundation’s second annual Wrapped in Style Fashion Show and Luncheon took place Tuesday, Nov. 16, at The Barn Event Center of the Smokies in Townsend.
One hundred women attended the fashion show, which raised $2,000 for the Hearing Aid Assistance Program.
“We want to say a special thank you to all of our supporters and all of the ladies who attended to make the event so successful,” said Melissa Smith, office manager at the Hearing and Speech Foundation.
Smith said the event raised funds through ticket sales and business sponsors. Chico’s Clothing in Turkey Creek provided fall fashions and accessories for the event. Brent Womac from Salon Azure styled the model’s hair, and Mary Kay Cosmetics provided makeup.
Bath Junkie in Turkey Creek offered complimentary spa hand treatments to attendees. Smith said sponsors from Roma Renfro and Blount Hearing and Speech Services were also instrumental in the fundraising efforts.
Lori Tucker of WATE-TV served as a celebrity guest host.
The foundation works to help those who can not afford hearing aids and who need hearing and speech services because of their deafness. Since 1981, the foundation has been serving East Tennessee and currently serve over 650 people in 27 counties. Smith said Blount County residents make up over 220 of the people served by the regional foundation.
Despite helping so many, the foundation still has people on a waiting list in need of services.
The foundation holds two annual fashion show fundraisers, one for fall fashions and the other for spring. The next event is slated for April of 2011.
