Hometown Christmas kicked off in Blount County the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving with the H.O.M.E. for Christmas event at the Martin Luther King, Jr., Community Center.
On Saturday, Nov. 27, music, light refreshments and the ceremonial lighting of the trees filled the community center.
Cookie Crowson, assistant director of Maryville Alcoa Blount County Parks and Recreation, said activities at the center went well. “There was some wonderful entertainment, and, of course, lighting the tree is always exciting, plus some good refreshments,” Crowson said. “It was just a good community event for everyone, and a good kickoff event for our Hometown Christmas activities.”
