Andrea May was recently named director of outreach and alumni affairs in Maryville College’s Advancement Office.
She joined the staff on July 19.
A 2007 Maryville College alumna, May holds a bachelor of arts degree. She majored in literature in English and minored in writing and communication.
As director of outreach and alumni affairs, May is responsible for developing and maintaining a wide variety of alumni and outreach programs, including planning and implementing young alumni outreach programs and fundraising initiatives; planning and directing events, programs and initiatives to increase alumni participation; supporting development initiatives; and writing and editing alumni articles for College publications.
May, a longtime resident of Maryville, comes to the College with experience in writing, editing, public relations and event management. Her most recent position was at Blackberry Farm, where she was a marketing and event coordinator. As marketing and event coordinator, she wrote and edited print materials; launched and managed the company’s microsite, blackberryfarmfriends.com; managed special events and holiday events; and created and executed marketing strategies.
May is a member of the Junior Service League in Maryville, where she has served on the Social Committee and as co-chair of the Major Fundraising Committee.
“Andrea comes to the College with a great deal of wonderful experience,” said Holly Sullivan, vice president of advancement and community relations. “Not only is she an alumna herself, she has wonderful events and social media background. We are excited about her joining our team.”
