The Marketing and Communications Office of Pellissippi State Community College was recognized recently with eight awards for excellence in public relations. Two of the awards were gold, five were silver and one was bronze. The recognition was bestowed by the Tennessee College Public Relations Association at the Meeting in the Mountains/TCPRA Spring Conference 2010, which took place in May at Maryville College.
The competition was open to communicators at any of Tennessee’s public and private colleges and universities, two-year technical schools, technology centers and community colleges. Submissions were judged on overall creativity, marketing execution and impact of message. Pellissippi State was recognized in the following categories:

Brochure/Flier (silver)—Degree Programs brochure
Newsletter, Printed (silver)—Connections newsletter
Photography (silver)—Nursing
Print Advertisement (silver)—Reasons for Success (“Mama”) ad
Special Publication (silver)—FirstLight magazine
Photography (bronze)—”Student Using Communications ‘Technology’”
“The Marketing and Communications Office works to keep the community and Pellissippi State students, faculty and staff aware of the many opportunities provided at each of our four campus locations,” said Julia Wood, director of Marketing and Communications at Pellissippi State. “It is an honor for our team to be recognized by TCPRA for its professionalism in higher education public relations.”
