Cooking for their Cook

Supporters for commission candidate Brandon Cook join in cookout

More than 75 people turned out to support Brandon Cook in his run for the Blount County Commission during “Cookout for Cook” at the barn at Everett Park. Cook is running unopposed in the Democratic primary for District 1, Seat A.

The event was held April 17, and Cook said it was a perfect day to meet the voters. “It went great,” said the candidate. “The weather was good, and it was a perfect day for a cookout. The enthusiasm level was great. We had approximately 75 people there enjoying live music and the food.”

Cook said he is hearing good things on the campaign as he is talking with residents. “A couple people there were telling me that I’m running the model campaign,” he said. “I laid some groundwork and now we’re taking our time and making it work.”

The candidate recognized his campaign committee for working on his behalf. “I want to thank the Cook for Commission committee and all the people involved with helping out,” he said. “I really want to thank them. We just set this up as a low-key fundraising event as a time for everybody to get together and fellowship.”

In the General election, Cook will meet incumbent Tonya Burchfield, who is the sole Republican primary candidate for District 1, seat A.
