Barbecue, music and good times were the order of the day during a community rally for Blount County Commission District VIII, Seat A, candidate James Taylor.
The barbecue took place April 10 on property owned by Stanley Headrick behind Missionary Baptist Church on West Millers Cove Road.
“Everybody had a good time, and we were up there to enjoy ourselves,” Taylor said in a telephone interview. “We had several people show up, and there were a lot of folks from my areas of Rocky Branch, Townsend and Walland.”
Taylor said those present already know his stand on property rights and other issues. “We didn’t do a whole lot of discussions of the issues. They know me personally and know my positions,” he said. “We didn’t do a lot of discussing of the issues. We came up there for barbecue, music and a good time and the forum was there.”
Taylor said there were about 25 people who attended the late afternoon get together.
Taylor’s opposition in the Republican primary for District VIII, Seat A, are John C. Templeton and Roy Gamble. There are no candidates in the Democratic primary. The seat is currently being held by John Keeble, who is not seeking re-election.
