Almost 50 folks showed on Saturday, April 3, at Chilhowee View Community Center to support Blount County Commissioner Wendy Pitts Reeves. Supporters enjoyed an old-fashion barn dance, which was a fundraiser for Pitts Reeves, who is running for re-election for Blount County Commission, District IV, Seat C.
In a telephone interview, Pitts Reeves said, “It was great. We had a blast. You can’t come to something like that and not have fun and have a sense of humor.”
Folks took to the floor for the old fashioned barn dance. “We had everyone from 6-year-olds to 60-year-olds doing everything from country dancing to square dancing. You could feel a real sense of community,” Pitts Reeves said.
There was plenty of food along with a cakewalk, a live band headed by Danny Gammon and square dance caller Tim Klein who added to the fun of the evening by instructing folks in how to square dance.
Pitts Reeves, a Democrat, is unopposed in the primary and will be challenged in the August general election by the winner of the Republican primary between Jerome Moon and Billy Gribble.
