St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, located at 314 W. Broadway in Maryville, has completed a three-year search for a new rector, a post soon to be occupied by Rev. Steven E. Mosher.
Mosher is currently serving as associate rector at the Church of the Nativity in Huntsville, Alabama. He and his wife, Kirsten, will be moving to Maryville within the next few months. His first service at St. Andrew’s will be August 2.
He succeeds the Rev. Martha Sterne as rector at St. Andrew’s. Since the Rev. Mrs. Sterne’s resignation in 2007, the church as been served by interim rector, the Rev. Robert Beasley.
Mosher has been associated with the Huntsville church for the past five years, following his graduation from the University of the South’s School of Theology in 2004. Prior to entering seminary, Mosher served for over 16 years in the information systems field in Atlanta, GA. He has worked with Arthur Andersen and Company, Norrell, IBM and Matrix.
His wife has taught high school mathematics for about 20 years and is an avid hiker. Mosher, 47, plays keyboard and is a visual artist, specializing in drawing and painting.
St. Andrew’s is the only Episcopal Church in Blount County and has over 400 members. Services are 8 a.m. and 10:45 each Sunday and 11 a.m. Thursdays.
