CBBC/Citizens Bank of Blount has completed its annual United Way Campaign with 100 percent participation among the bank’s 86 Associates. As a Pacesetter Member of the United Way, CBBC is one of the local organizations that holds its campaign early to help set the tone for the overall yearly campaign.
The bank’s mission statement describes its Associates as a “loyal, highly-trained, and well cared for team of achievers, who recognize the importance of being good citizens in the communities they call home,” and this year’s employee giving reflects that mission, with Associate gifts totaling $42,911.55, a 2% increase over 2008 results. When combined with the CBBC corporate donation of $14,850, the bank’s total United Way gift is $57,761.55. Special fundraising events this year included a Garage Sale and a Dress-Down Day.
President Joe Bruce reminisces; “When Citizens Bank of Blount County was formed 36 years ago in a small trailer, we started with very meager beginnings. In that initial year of operation, we held our first United Way campaign. The Bank made a corporate contribution and our staff (all 7 of us) participated in an employee campaign. Each year, in good times and in bad, we have continued that practice with total devotion to United Way of Blount County. United Way allows us to give back to the community that has been so good to us.”
CBBC operates with 80 full- time equivalent associates, serving in 12 bank locations and an Operations Center. The local banking institution has never laid off an employee in its 36-year history.
