A Sevier County man was charged Oct. 13 with criminal homicide in connection with the death of a 69-year-old Knoxville woman.
Tracy Lyn Fox of Kodak is being held on a $500,000 bond in the Blount County Correctional Facility pending a 9 a.m. Oct. 16 hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court.
Fox was located in Chattanooga early Sunday morning in possession of the vehicle belonging to Wanda D. Britt, age 69, of Knoxville. Britt had been reported missing in Knox County on Friday. Saturday morning, Britt’s body was found at a remote location off Quarry Hollow Road in Friendsville.
Fox was named as a person of interest that day. A description of the vehicle was sent out, and Fox was taken into custody by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Knox County Sheriff’s Office early Sunday morning and brought back to Blount County.
The exact cause of death is yet to be determined, pending further forensic testing.
This investigation involves several different agencies, including the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office, Chattanooga Police Department, Maryville Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
“The quick resolution of locating the perpetrator of this homicide wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance and cooperation of all of these agencies,” Sheriff James Berrong said. “Without that cooperation, Fox would not be in custody today.”
