Reaching out to community

Slaters, Womacs host fundraiser for Clayton Center for the Arts

Interested patrons and supporters of the Clayton Center for the Arts gathered recently at the Savannah Park clubhouse to discuss the on-going community campaign to help raise money for the new facility, which is scheduled to open in early spring 2010.

Kim and Otto Slater and Marti and Bill Womac hosted the event on Sept. 22. Pistol Creek Catch of the Day performed for the intimate gathering. Catering Connections prepared the food for the event.

“We had a great time,” said Kim Slater. “We are still in the process of talking to individuals. We had people interested in giving because of naming opportunities in some of the rooms at the Center and opportunities to get preferred seating for the first season,” Kim said

Bill Womac said the Clayton Center for the Arts is going to be a wonderful addition to East Tennessee’s arts community. “Anyone who has the opportunity to help it along should certainly be willing to do that. Everyone is going to reap rewards from it, especially generations to come,” he said.

Other opportunities to attend special events and hear updates on the fundraising are planned for the fall. For an invitation or to donate, call Robert Hutchens or Holly Ludlow at 865-273-8884.
