2008 Football Captain Russ Harris
Russ Harris, 2008 Maryville College graduate and captain of the football team, died Wednesday afternoon following a diving accident off the coast of Sarasota, Fla.
"The entire Maryville College football family is deeply saddened with the loss of Russ Harris. Russ overcame two major injuries to become an All-USA South defensive tackle and leader of the 2008 football team,” said MC head football coach Tony Ierulli. “Most importantly, we lost a good friend to all the players, coaches, and staff. Russ was a warrior throughout his Maryville College career. He was a true Fighting Scot.”
A memorial service will take place in Venice, Florida on Monday, Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.
