Wellington Place of Maryville recently honored area Maryville firefighters with breakfast, extending the offer for three separate days to serve the most firefighters.
Capt. Mike Caylor, Maryville Fire Department, said the firefighters appreciated the gesture. “It’s nice to be recognized,” he said.
Gary Williams, a firefighter with Maryville Fire Department, was thankful. “We don’t do this for the recognition, but it’s nice when someone does recognize us,” he said.
Maryville firefighter Rob Woods said the breakfast was a nice change of pace. “You get to meet people in a little better condition,” he said. “Normally we’re here in a different situation.”
Wellington Place of Maryville is a Brookdale Senior Living community located at 1869 Crest Road in Maryville. The residents of Wellington Place of Maryville hosted Maryville’s firefighters for breakfast on Nov. 4, 5 and 6. The staff and residents of Wellington Place said the firefighters are dedicated men and women who enrich and provide safety and security to the community.
The firemen provided a special treat for the residents by demonstrating their firefighting equipment and allowing a photo opportunity. The breakfast was made possible through donations from Bill and Judy Dunlap and Dave and Fran Bennett. The fire truck center pieces were provided by the Flower Shop.
