Brittney Renee Loser, 18, North Wright Road, Alcoa, was charged with criminal responsibility for facilitation of a felony - theft of a motor vehicle greater than $10,000, and criminal responsibility for facilitation of a felony - aggravated robbery.
Dotson and Loser are being held in the Blount County Adult Detention Facility. Bond amounts and court dates were not set at the time of this release. A 16-year-old boy was also charged with aggravated robbery by delinquency, theft of a motor vehicle over $10,000 by delinquency, and theft of property over $10,000 by possession by delinquency.
In addition, the Sheriff’s Office is looking for a fourth suspect who is believed to be involved in the carjacking.
Deputies responded to a residence on Sevierville Road shortly after midnight Saturday to the call of a carjacking. The victim, Kimberly Sue Hatcher, 48, told deputies that after getting out of her vehicle in her driveway, a man approached her, displaying a knife and demanded her car keys. She gave him the keys, and he pushed her down, causing her to hit her head, knee and hand. The man then left in her 2004 Mazda RX8, followed by another vehicle that was in the vicinity.
Hatcher was taken by Rural/Metro Ambulance Service to Blount Memorial Hospital for treatment to her injuries, and released.
At around 10:30 Saturday night, a BCSO deputy spotted a vehicle on East Lincoln that was reported stolen out of Knox County. A short pursuit ensued, and the driver of the stolen vehicle backed into the front end of the Sheriff’s Office vehicle on Bittle Avenue.
The occupants of the stolen vehicle - a 2004 Toyota Camry - took off on foot. It is believed that the missing suspect in the carjacking was driving the vehicle.
During the course of the investigation, a tip came in Sunday morning that the stolen Mazda belonging to Hatcher was parked at Meadowwood Apartments on North Wright Road. Deputies spoke with the residents of the apartment in which the vehicle was parked. They made contact with Brittney Loser and Christopher Dotson. They were both taken into custody, and Dotson confessed that he had stolen the vehicle from Hatcher. Further investigation revealed that a 16-year-old boy, as well as another suspect who is not yet in custody, was part of the foursome involved in the robbery. Sunday morning, deputies responded to a residence on Burns Street in Alcoa and took the youth into custody.
Two stolen vehicles were recovered from this incident - the 2004 Mazda RX8, as well as the 2004 Toyota Camry.
The investigation is continuing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
