Limo, lunch and a ‘star-studded’ dance highlight finale of X Games

Maryville Intermediate School recently celebrated raising more than $23,000 in four days at the school’s annual Eagle X Games fundraising event. Chairs of the event were Fran Leonard and Heidi Paszek, who are board members of the school’s Parent Teacher Council.

Principal Jan Click promised MIS students she would “Dance with the Stars” if they made their fundraising goal, so she put on her dancing shoes for the celebration and took a turn around the gym. She and her partner Coach Keith Lambert joined more than 20 administration and faculty members for the MIS Dancing With the Stars Dance-off.

Larry Headrick, Deca Ellis and Coach Scottie Collins brought to life “Taylor Swift,” the Black Eyed Peas and MIS High School Musical 3 to round out the entertainment at the celebration.

Top fundraisers Anna Alloway, Hunter Tipton, Addison Collins, Grace Proffitt, Reagan Newman, Talley Russell, Clayton Christenberry, Zach Cardwell, Judge Alexander, Jack Sayles, Will Barham and Kyle Cunningham were treated to a limo ride and lunch at Aubrey’s for their efforts. The prize was donated by Aubrey’s and Blount Today. Funds raised will be used in part to fund Promethean boards, Activotes and other technology for the school’s 21st-century classrooms.
