First Tennessee’s parent company, First Horizon National Corp., rose to second place among the nation’s employers for workers over 50, according to the 2009 AARP Best Employers for Workers Over 50 list.
“First Tennessee places a priority on the broad range of skills and experiences of professionals of all ages within our workforce. The strength of our company is based on the value and experience we bring to our customers,” said Greg Wilson, regional president of First Tennessee-Maryville. “We appreciate the strong ranking and AARP’s recognition of our efforts to make First Tennessee the employer of choice.”
AARP recognized the 50 companies on its 2009 list for their best practices and policies for valuing the mature worker. The companies were evaluated on innovative practices toward workers 50 and older including recruiting practices, education and career development, job sharing, flexible scheduling, health care and retirement benefits and workplace accommodations.
