The University of Tennessee faculty brasswind quintet will perform a concert at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center.
Vulcan Materials is co-hosting the event. Admission is $4 per person and includes both museum admission and concert admission. The event is free for Heritage Center members and will be held rain or shine.
The concert is being made possible through a grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission and additional funding from Vulcan Materials and the board of Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center.
The Brasswind Quintet is made up of faculty from the University of Tennessee’s School of Music and has been in existence since 1968. The group has performed at special events throughout the southeast.
Members of the group include Dr. Cathy Leach, Lindsey Jessick, Calvin Smith, Daniel Cloutier and W. Sande MacMorran.
The Nov. 14 program will include an educational “Brass Quintet through the Ages” - music from the Renaissance through modern times - followed by a holiday music program to include sing-along songs.
