Pickle leaving Maryville for Morristown West

Blount Today learned Friday afternoon that Maryville High School boys’ track and field coach Mac Pickle has been offered and accepted a position to become head track and field coach at Morristown West High School.

The reasons for Pickle’s departure from Maryville are unknown at present, the move coming at an historic moment for Rebel track and field.

Junior Clint McKelvey became the school’s first state champion in a running event at the state meet when he won the 3200-meter run last Friday at Middle Tennessee State University. Senior and University of Tennessee signee Jordan Chaney made it two for Maryville later in the day with a win in the 1600, adding a second-place showing in the 800.
