Patricia Mandigo has informed the Blount County Director of Schools that she is retiring as principal of Heritage High School, Blount County School Board chair Chris Cantrell confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
“I was notified by the director of schools that she was retiring,” Cantrell said.
Mandigo, who was said to be in meetings at the school and later on at the school board, could not be reached for comment Tuesday and did not return phone messages. Messages left with outgoing schools director Alvin Hord and incoming schools director Rob Britt were not returned.
Cantrell said this was Mandigo’s third year at Heritage High School. Mandigo came to Heritage following a career in education in Florida. Cantrell said Hord and Britt would post the vacancy and conduct interviews.
