‘Landmarks of our Heritage’ gets ready for gala debut

Suzanne Morrison donated this family of Steiff Bears for the ‘Landmarks of our Heritage’ auction.

It is year number six for the annual Heritage Happening fundraiser and organizers have chosen a theme befitting their mission: Landmarks of our Heritage.

The gala event will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 30, at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center, which is also the beneficiary of the fundraising.

Tickets are $100 per person for the dinner and auction. Dinner will be catered by Miss Lily’s Café in Townsend. Seats are limited, and those interested who have not purchased tickets should call 865-448-0044.

Heritage Happening is the main fundraiser for the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center Guild. A big part of the funds raised come from the interested variety of items donated for both the silent and the live auction. The auction items boggle the imagination, with everything from antique oak dressers, to vacations in Hilton Head, to a ride on a WWII fighter pilot trainer plane or tickets to the Master’s.
