The Blount County Board of Health will meet this at 7:30 a.m. May 22 in the Blount County Health Department in the conference room. The Board’s agenda will include a review of innovative prevention efforts to safeguard the health of the community as well as budgetary approval.
Micky Roberts, County Health director, said that, “this is an important time for the health of our community. Soon people we will be hearing more about and experiencing Ozone alert days, Obesity prevention activities, and since the mosquitoes will be back, surveillance for West Nile Virus via bird collection.”
Roberts also thanked current board members, some whom have served for years: Richard Hall, nursing director Blount Memorial Hospital, Blount County School Superintendent Alvin Hord, County Mayor Jerry Cunningham, Board Chairman Robert Ramsey DDS, Steve Myers, pharmacist, and Sam Meisler, D.V.M.. Also in attendance will be incoming Blount County director of schools Rob Britt.
