Webb wins new post in Democratic party organization

Blount County Democratic Party chair Tony Webb has been elected vice chair of the Tennessee Democratic Party Chair Association at a recent Tennessee Democratic Party Summit.

Webb said he and Vice Chair Marte Lawrence spent a recent weekend at the Tennessee Democratic Summit at Monteagle. Tennessee Democrats met for a weekend of grassroots training, roundtable discussions and a forum of the candidates for governor in 2010. Candidates Kim McMillan, Ward Cammack and State Sen. Roy Herron all gave stump speeches touting their respective campaigns.

At Saturday’s barbecue event Rep. Lincoln Davis gave a speech that highlighted the issues that unite party faithful as Democrats and as Tennesseans, said Webb.

The event wrapped up with a prayer breakfast led by State Sen. Roy Herron and State Rep. Johnny Shaw.
