Maryville Kiwanis club hits links for literacy

Golfers of all handicaps are being asked to grab their clubs and head to Green Meadow Golf Course on Monday, May 18.

The seventh annual golf tournament for the Kiwanis Club of Maryville, which was rained out on April 6, is scheduled for that day, and children who love books are anxiously awaiting the outcome.

The tournament is a fund raiser for the Kiwanis, and proceeds benefit a variety of programs touching area youth, including the Imagination Library.

Tournament director Robert Russell said registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch at noon. A shotgun start follows at 1 p.m.

It is a swat format, with prizes in two different flights. Handicaps are required for placement in flights. There are also door prizes, dinner and an awards ceremony. The cost is $100 per player. Opportunities to support as a hole sponsor are also available for $250 each and boosters for $100.
