Whether someone’s favorite thing to do is peruse a yard sale or hop on a motorcycle, Relay for Life teams are offering a way to help them raise funds for the upcoming event.
Relay for Life committee member Becky Huckaby said teams are forming in the community to raise money for cancer research. The efforts will all come together on May 29 when the Blount County Relay for Life takes place on the Maryville College campus.
“The groups get together and are real creative with coming up with new and cool ways of raising money,” Huckaby said. “Recently we’ve had Trash or Treasure sales and a jazzercise class where proceeds go to Relay for Life.”
The Blount County Relay for Life on May 29 is an all-night affair on the campus of Maryville College. “The teams do this as a way for people to get involved,” said Huckaby.
Huckaby said not everyone wants to be part of a bake sale but they may want to be part of a motorcycle ride or be involved in some other event that may come along.
“These team fundraisers create these opportunities so everybody has chance to be part of Relay for Life,” she said.
