Call for outdoor sculptures will offer new addition to Earth Round Up

A new event is coming to downtown Maryville’s art scene. The Maryville Arts Coalition along with Keep Blount Beautiful recently announced the Juried Outdoor ECO-sculpture Exhibition and Competition.

The event is designed to coordinate with Earth Round Up and help raise environmental awareness within the community through large-scale environmental installations and sculpture on display to the public at the Greenbelt Park.

The exhibit is open to all artists 18 years or older residing in the United States. All artwork in the 3D media completed in the last two years is eligible. Artists may submit up to three works or proposals with no more than one piece to be selected per artist.

The artwork must maintain the theme of Earth Awareness and the use of earth/recycled materials is not required but strongly encouraged. Work must also be suitable for outside installation and public interaction. Work must be structurally sound and able to withstand the elements and high traffic interaction with the public. Safety of the audience will weigh heavily in the jurying process and any works found unsuitable will not be considered.

The entry deadline is Monday, March 16, at midnight. A non-refundable entry fee of $25 for up to three works/proposals may be submitted per artist. One entry per artist and group collaborative projects are considered one work.

Awards include $1,000 for best of show, $500 for second place, $250 for third place and four awards of merit of $125 Jerry’s Art-O-Roma gift certificates.

Send entries to Maryville Arts Coalition, P.O. Box 1058, Alcoa, TN 37701.
