Sister Cats, a Townsend restaurant known for its homemade fare, has come to Maryville.
Dan Mizell, co-owner of The Market at Washington and High, was excited about the change. “Sister Cats out of Townsend is opening up with breakfast, lunch and dinner,” he said. “They’re excited about that, and we’re excited to have them.”
Sister Cats replaced Ciao Deli, although owner Todd White will continue to have a section of the Market to sell imported and microbrewery beers. He will also continue to organize the beer club events for the Market.
Cynthia and Terry Barker own Sister Cats and said the Maryville location is called Sister Cats Café at the Market. “We’re going to stay in Townsend where we are while we are branching out into new horizons,” Cynthia Barker said.
Cynthia said there are people in the world whose ministry it is to feed people. “My husband’s desire is not to just feed people. He has the amazing ability to put foods together that will make you have a party going on in your mouth,” she said. “It’s what we call the ‘Wow’ factor. The first time they take a bite of anything he’s cooked, they have the ‘Wow’ factor.”
The partnership with The Market will include using ingredients and items customers can only get at the Market, Cynthia said. “We’ll Laurel Creek meats. They will help us do the deli and cheeses, and we will use Blue Moon Fish Co. for seafood items,” she said. “It was a wonderful fit for us to have an opportunity like this to come to The Market.”
Sister Cats will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays.
